A Far Frontiers Expeditions tour is the ultimate blend of personal challenge and reward for even the most experienced travellers.  We offer exclusive destinations and personal itineraries for small groups and private travellers.

Each of our tours is personally designed by our managing director, Christopher Short, using his wealth of travel experience, and these will be shown as they become available.   They are thoroughly researched and meticulously planned with stimulating itineraries, and our tours will be accompanied by expert local guides.

We work with independent minded travellers, specialising in destinations where one would normally think twice making one's own arrangements.

We are experts on all types of trip that can be undertaken in the countries below.  Part of this success is owed to working with hand picked in country operators, and appointed expert local English speaking personable guides.

We encourage choice and independence such as the ability to organise your own flights.  You may find this a benefit if you have air miles outstanding, or believe there is an internet flight deal.

  • Small groups: We strictly limit the numbers on our small group tours. They run with between 6-14 participants.
  • Expert local guides: Our local in-country guides are selected with care for their knowledge, communication skills and companionability. You can rely on these passionate, personable experts to enlighten, stimulate and bring your whole experience alive.
  • Flights: Using only reliable and reputable airlines, we try to choose convenient flying times allowing pain-free travel, comfortable and on time. If preferred, we can offer tours without the flights so you may make your own arrangements for international travel.
  • Group management: We cater for independently minded travellers and we are aware that the idea of groups can be 'off-putting'. We aim to be efficient, considerate but unobtrusive.
  • Tour content: To ensure that you will have an unforgettable holiday, we meticulously plan the whole experience from detailing hotel rooms and scheduling vehicle stops to considering the best times of year to travel.
  • BS8848: Our trips meet BS8848 Specifications for the provision of visits, field work, expeditions and adventurous activities outside the UK. Self declared.
We strive to add value, for example by arranging a private audience with a tribal King in Ethiopia, maybe a dinner with members of the Royal family in Bhutan, a private showing of a collection in Peru or cocktail party with our Ambassador. Throughout each tour there is a continuing promotion and awareness of geography, be it 'people and places', glaciation or the effects of climate change.
