An incredible expedition which combines the exploration with trekking in Bhutan and the jungles of Nepal. Trek the recently opened Haa Valley, visit both capitals, see greater one-horned rhinoceros from the backs of elephants in Chitwan. Mountain biking in the Kathmadu Valley.
Itinerary at a Glance
Day 1 - Fly to Kathmandu
Day 2/3 - Time to visit the burning ghats, the monkey temple or the famous Bodinath
Day 4 - Short flight to Paro. Visit Paro Dzong and the
National Museum.
Day 5 - Drive down the Paro valley to Drukgyel Dzong.
Visit a farmhouse and meet a family. Later trek up to
Taktsang Monastery.
Day 6 - Drive to camp in the Haa Valley. Later visit
Lhakhang Karpo Monastery.
Day 7 - Trek to our camp below Saga La. Later, weather
permitting, hike up to Saa La for views of sacred
Chomolhari and Haa Valley
Day 8 - Trek to Saga La to Ningulamp
Day 9 - Climb up to the ridge and cross Kale La and to
Kung Karpo then toward the Chele La, meet bus and
drive back to Paro
Day 10 - Drive to Thimpu to visit the capital
Day 11 - Drive to Dodina and trek to Cheri Monastery. On
return visit Tango Goemba. Drive back to Paro to explore
shops and market.
Day 12 - Fly to Kathmandu
Day 13 - Full day mountain biking in the Kathmandu Valley
Day 14 - Drive to jungle lodge in the Royal Chitwan
National Park. Viewing and riding elephants being washed
in the river
Day 15 - Elephant back safari and canoe trip. Take jungle
walks in the royal Chitwan National Park and visit local
villages. Watch traditional Tharu people stick dancing in
the evening.
Day 16 - Final elephant back safari then drive back to
Kathmandu
Day 17 - Depart for the UK
