Nepal - Everest from Tibet

This is an exciting, varied and challenging 22 day expedition to Nepal and Tibet. 

We will explore the bustling streets of Kathmandu before flying across the Himalaya with incredible aerial views of Everest and Kangchenjunga to Lhasa.  Staying in the old Tibetan quarter of Lhasa we visit the monasteries, we will mingle with monks and then travel to Shigatse and Gyantse to Tingri. 

We begin our wilderness trek to Rongbuk and then Base Camp.  Trek to Camp 2 and then up to 6000m supported by yaks.  Across the Tibetan plateau, descending through Himalaya to Kathmandu.  We white water raft in the melt waters of Everest, and mountain bike in the Kathmandu Valley.

Itinerary at a Glance

Days 1/2 - Fly to Kathmandu where there is time to explore the city
Day 3 - Time to explore Kathmandu
Day 4 - Fly to Lhasa.
Day 5 - Visit the Potala Palace, then relax in the markets of the old Tibetan quarter
Day 6 - Visit the Jokhang temple and see the debating monks at the Sera Monastery
Day 7 - Travel to Drepung Monastery. 
Day 8 - Drive to Gyantse, crossing the Kamba La Pass. 
Day 9 - Visit the Gyantse Kumkum chorten and fort
Day 10 - Drive to Shigatse and Tashilunpo Monastery
Day 11 - Drive to Tingri and meet our Sherpa trek crew.  Move into tents and begin trek phase.
Day 12 - Trek to Lungja and to our campsite just before the Lamna-La Pass. 
Day 13 - Cross the Lamna-La to our camp at the Rongbuk River 
Day 14 - We now head for the Rongbuk Monastery, where we have superb views of North Face of Mount Everest
Day 15 - Trek to Everest Base Camp
Day 16 - Establish camp for the next few days at Everest Base Camp.  there is an opportunity to venture up on the North Ridge, hoping to reach 6000m and camp at Camp 2.
Day 17 - Head above Camp 2 past ice formations towards Camp 3 at the base of the North col.  Long descent back down to Base Camp.
Day 18 - Drive to the Nepalese border.  Stay at campsite outside Nylam for final night of camping
Day 19 - Drive to Kathmandu
Day 20 - White water rafting  on Bhote Koshi river
Day 21 - Mountain biking through villages and mountain tracks
Day 22 - Fly back to UK
