We are always on the lookout for good leaders for our overseas adventurous school expeditions, who will help to ensure safe and enjoyable experiences for all our schools when abroad (and from next year 2011, also in the UK).
We really appreciate our leaders - many of them work with us year after year. Having an excellent leader who contributes that little bit 'extra' really makes the difference to the enjoyment of the School Leader/s and their expedition team.
What do you need?
You'll need to be that special someone who can encourage young people to experience the expedition to the full as well as provide support to the School Leader/s. In addition to this you will need to ensure that the pre-planned logistics run smoothly in the background.
You must have the following as an absolute minimum:
- Enhanced CRB disclosure certificate
- Current first-aid certificate
In addition you must have a technical qualification relevant to the trip we'd like you to lead. Most of our trips require the Mountain Leader (Summer) Award as a minimum.
However depending on the expedition, alternative native qualifications such as ML (Winter), IML, or mountain biking, canoeing or rafting may be required. We'd also like to know of any previous relevant work you have done with young people, areas of the world you are familiar with, and any languages you speak.
We are a DofE AAP so we are especially keen to hear from those of you who are qualified as DofE Gold Assessors.
What to do next
If you think you have what it takes, please email Charlie, Head of Operations (charlotte@farfrontiers.co.uk) with reasons why you think you would make a good FFEL, together with your CV and details of two relevant referees. If we like what we see in this first instance, we'll invite you up to our offices in the Cotswolds to meet either Charlie or Christopher Short, our hands-on Managing Director.
