We lead by example, and aim both to educate expeditioners about the impact of tourism and to develop their cultural sensitivity. We hope that by visiting and supporting a local economy in a sensitive manner we can make a positive contribution to those local people. As an example, our schools expeditions usually involve a community or school project that positively impacts the young people in these villages.
We have incredible on-going projects with schools for Tibetan refugees in India, Masai children in Kenya, porters' families in Peru, Indian communities in the Amazon and old people's homes in Patagonia - and these are just a few.
Our expeditions have raised over £300K in support of charities such as the RSPCA, Action Research, Meningitis Trust, The Parkinson's Disease Society, the Richard Langhorn Trust, SOS Children's Villages, the Himalayan Trust. We have provided teachers in Nepalese schools, funded vaccination programmes for hundreds of families in the Annapurna foothills, provided coaches for orphanages in Lhasa, supported orphanages and renovated Berber schools in Morocco, as well as helping schools in rural China and Uganda.
